Chrysler Repair: # 8 Fuse blowing, amp meter, floorboard

Question
1997 sebring convertible jxi # 8 fuse which controlls Ign., Fuel & starter has been blowing with increased frequency. First time replaced fuse and all was fine for aprx. 3 weeks, blew again on one week intervals now is almost daily, have been told possible fuel pump drawing too much, fuse blows as soon as ignition switch is turned to on position without cranking.

Answer
Check under the rear seat cushion and back in the driver's side.  Sometimes there will be water to collect there.  This may cause shorting to ground.

Also, if you have an amp-meter then you can determine just how much the fuel pump is drawing at key on.  Disconnecting the fuel pump connector (goes through the floorboard in this area mentioned above) may help isolate the part of the circuits being fed by that fuse.
