Chrysler Repair: Theft Alarm wont shut off, 1996 chrysler cirrus, chrysler cirrus

Question
Hi,

I had to jump start my 1996 Chrysler Cirrus the other day and after a second try the car started but the alarm went off.  Since then I can drive the car but every time I hit uneven road conditions it comes back on.  This also happens when I open/close the doors.  In between the alarm shuts off and is quiet.
As I am not willing to spend much money on a car this old,m is there any way I can disconnect the alarm (cut wires etc).  I really dont need the alarm in working order.
I appreciate your help in this matter.  Thank you.

Kristinn

Answer
There's been a few switches fail on these cars that will prevent the alarm from being disabled when you unlock the door.  They are kind of sensative too and even if you get it to unlock the door and turn off the alarm, if it moves ever so slightly it may move back in to the lock position.

Does this vehicle have skim?  You will be able to look at the key and tell.  Gray headed fat keys have SKIM chips in them.  Your standard thin key does not.  Also, have you tried unlocking and locking the other door to see if that makes a difference in how frequent the alarm goes off?

In most cases when people don't want to spend the money on the switch we just leave it in the unlock position and do NOT reattatch it to the back side of the key cylinder for the doors.  But be aware this will mean that the alarm will NOT work at all.
