Chrysler Repair: 01 T&C Van:intrument panel/turn sigs dont work, wire grommets, conductive wire

Question
Hello Roland.  Yesterday the Instrument panel and turn signals on our 2001 T&C van stopped working while we were driving.  I looked for a common fuse or relay but I could not find one.  Any ideas?

Answer
Hello Chris,
I am limited by not having the wiring diagrams for the '01 van, but earlier models didn't seem to have a common fuse.
My suggestion would be to take a look at the ground point for the instrument panel and body computer which is located on the cowl panel on the driver's side, just in front of the door opening, maybe hidden behind a trim panel, possibly closer to the floor than the bottom of the i/p.
You should find a bolt that attaches several black or black/other color trace wires to the metal panel in front of the door opening. One of those is for the i/p and one is for the body computer. So check that the wire grommets are clean and tightly attached at the point. If that checks out, then you may just have to look at all the fuses to see if you can find one that is blown or has subtle crack in the internal conductive wire.
I wish I had a manual for '01 but have not found one at a fair price that I can justify for this voluntary effort.
Good luck!
Roland
