Chrysler Repair: Stratus alarmed system wont disarm with remote, chrysler stratus lx, body control module

Question
Dear Roland.

I'm the Owner of a Chrysler Stratus LX 1999 that has the Rockwell thef system .
The only one remote control I have now is not operating to disarm the system and the engine fuel system is blocked by the alarm. How can I disarm the system if the Remote control is not capable to do it?
By the way, I have changed the bateries and nothing happend. Do you know how can i disarm this system or I have to go to the Chrysler representative?.
Does Chrysler representative disarm this system?
Can I buy another remote control?, Do you know where?

I hope you can help me with my questions

Thanks in advance

Pedro

Answer
Hi Pedro,
There is another way to disarm the theft system. Just take your ignition/door key and put in the lock of either the passenger or the driver door, then lock and unlock the door lock and see if that doesn't cancel the alarm. If it doesn't we may have to verify the wires from the door locks to the body control module under the dash.
On the remote, I would check some of the fuses under the hood in the power distribution center near the battery: fuses 4,15 and 18 and also the fuses under the dash (fuse 4, 5 and 9). If those look o.k. then try the other fuses because the numbers of the relevant fuses may differ from the correct ones (I'm using a 96 manual for reference).
So don't go looking for another remote until we check out the fuses in those two locations. If the system is getting flakey you can by-pass it entirely by just never using the power door locks to lock the doors. Rather just use the push buttons to lock up and you will not have to worry about not being able to start the car again becasue of the alarm not being disarmed.
