Chrysler Repair: 1996 LHS Alarm system spontanious false alarm, electrical shorts, spontaniously

Question
We have had a 1996 LHS for 5 years, 76,000 miles. Beginning last summar the alarm system would, on ocasion trigger spontaniously.   When it began it was seldom, weeks apart, and always in hot sun.  The occurences have increased in frequency. One yesterday, warm temperature 80°, about 30 minutes after a drivine.  This morning went off after sitting all night, outside temperature about 70°.

Answer
Hi Glenn,
The actions that will trigger an alarm (and I assume that this only happens when the system has been armed against theft, otherwise let me know) are any of the four doors being sensed as ajar or the lock cylinder for the trunk lock being removed. My inclination would be to look at each of the four doors to see whether their latch striker plate has moved outboard resulting in the door being less firmly pressed against the door opening when the door is closed. With wear and time, the door may be sensed by the switch in the frame as being ajar when it truly is latched fully, but the position of the latch is just too loose which then allows the ajar switch to send the false open message to the body computer. You might also check the trunk lock cylinder to verify that it has not come mechanically loose from the socket into which it fits.
You could test the switch situations by arming the system and then try pulling on the four doors (or lock someone inside and have them push outward on each of the doors to see if there is one door that sets off the alarm with little pushing).
If that doesn't reveal the flaw for subsequent adjustment of the striker plate, then I would look at the body control module on the right side cowl panel under the knee bolster. It is a bit of complexity to get too so let me know if you want to pursue that possibility, for directions. It has several 25-pin plugs (including the wires from the switches I described above) that are subject to electrical shorts if water drips down from a windshield leak upon them.
Those are my ideas on how to check this out. Let me know if you need further explanation.
