Chrysler Repair: 90 Lebaron digital dash dead., electrolytic capacitor, orange wire

Question
Hi Roland, tried some of the things you suggested but so far
no good.Have battery voltage on pin # 12 in run position, pin
#7 is grounded as it should be,the orange wire shows nothing
as I move the dimmer unless I turn on the headlights or park
lights and then I get variable voltage in relation to how far I move the dimmer. Also when I turn on either of the above lights my radio and traveler readouts go dark until
I move the dimmer up,I also sprayed all the computer pins and sockets. I tried holding the trip and trip reset down while starting the engine, nothing showed up in the odometer
window when I released them,so whats next,is there a test that I can do to see if the cluster is bad.Thanks.

Answer
Hi William,
According to the dash test procedure, no display means the cluster is bad. So all I can suggest is to examine the circuit board of the cluster and see if you can spot any component that looks fried. I am not familiar with the internals of the electronic cluster having never seen one or a circuit diagram for it. But you might spot an electrolytic capacitor that looks like it leaked and replacing that might revive the cluster.
