Chrysler Repair: 2000 Cirrus ignition locked, chrysler cirrus, steering wheel

Hi, I just purchased a 2000 Chrysler Cirrus less than a week ago, and it has been running fine.  Unfortunately yesterday when I tried to start it the ignition was locked.  I was able to insert the key, but it would not turn at all.  The headlights and indoor light work fine.  I was wondering if there is some type of switch to unlock the ignition.  I looked all over and cannot find one.  It is in park, and I also tried stepping on the brake while trying to turn the key.  Nothing worked.  The steering wheel is positioned upside down right now, not sure if that has any significance.  Please tell me what you think.  I am hoping it is something simple before I hire a mechanic!  Thanks,  Sherry

sounds like the wheel are turned and this will lock the eng. put the key back in eng. pull down or up on the steraling wheel some times this will on lock the eng.
if not then get some one to jack up the front end of the van. and then the wheels will relax then you should be able to turn the eng.
