Chrysler Repair: 93 Mitsubishi Galant cranks/no start/getting flooded, mitsubishi galant, compression stroke

Question
Hello I was wondering if you have any experience on the 1993 Mits Galant 2.0L SOHC engine. I replaced the distributor assembly, for a no spark issue, but no I have a flooding issue. Have good fuel pressure.  Did a compression test which tested good. Double checked my distributor placement at #1 TDC, and that  is good. Any insight would be great thanks.

Answer
Hi Chris,
One other detail I thought to mention. Are you sure that when you have TDC of cylinder #1 that it is on the compression stroke and not the exhaust stroke? If you moved the crank position after you took off the distributor and then just reset it to TDC by rotating it you might have the timing off by 360 degrees. When you are on TDC for the compression stroke both valves will be closed and the valves for the cylinder that is third in the order from cylinder #1 in the firing order will have both of its valves open slightly (what is called the overlap position). So you could take off the valve cover and check that, or just try resetting-up the distributor with the crank mark at TDC, but after having rotated the crank around once and then see if that gets it to fire up.

Hi Chris,
Unfortunately I have not worked on or studied that engine. My only question would be are you getting spark for as long as you are cranking (or does it cut off before you stop cranking it)? My thought is that if the fuel isn't being ignited that it will of course appear to be a flood situation so you should always verify the spark is robust and constant as long as you are cranking it over.
