Chrysler Repair: Back Brake cylinder, wheel cylinder, brake cylinder

Question
hello,

If I decide to replace the brake cylinder in the rear wheel.  Do I need to replace the other side as well?

Thank you.

Answer
Hi Luis,
I have not ever seen a recommendation to replace the opposite side wheel cylinder. If, however, the brake shoe linings are damaged as the result of absorbing brake fluid that leaked from the bad cylinder so that the wheels will not brake identically to oneanother then it is always recommended that the brake Shoes be replaced on both sides of the vehicle. So do inspect the linings of that wheel and compare them with the ones on the other side.
If the wheels do no brake evenly it can cause loss of control when braking. But the replacement of the wheel cylinder on one side should not result in any imbalance so long as the other wheel cylinder is o.k.
