Chrysler Repair: 1997 Sebring convertable odometer, combination meter, chrysler corp

Question
Seems like I'm not the only one with the intermitant odometer on this model Sebring. I wonder if ther could be a mfg. cuase or recall? Have you found out anything else since you answered Linda back in Januray?

Answer
Hi Ramiro,
I don't recall anyother questions about the odometer after Linda's. To find out about a recall you could call the Chrysler Corp in Detroit. I got their phone number from the Corp website. It appears from the wiring diagrams that the odometer is based upon pulse counting where the pulses are generated by the distance sensor or the trans controller (manual or auto trans, respectively) and those pulses and their rate of occurence produce the odometer and speedometer readings. So I would suspect a fault internal to the dash combination meter as the cause of a 'failed odo at the same time the speedo if o.k.' sort of situation.
