Answer
Hi Bob,
I can't understand why a bulb should burn out frequently unless it is being thermally shocked when it is illuminated, by cold water intrusion in a sudden manner (splashing). There is no way that I know of for a single bulb to have more than 12V applied to it which is the otherway to burn out a bulb.
On the wiring question, I am limited by just having the Haynes manual for '96-99 which shows the wire colors but not the plug-in numbers. From what that diagram shows, the front and rear wires to the turn signal filaments are independent of oneanother. There are four separate wires that come out of the combination flasher unit located under the dash in the junction (fuse and relay) block. Some disassembly of the panel that includes the parking brake release handle is required to reach that module to check the wires between it and the light sockets. The left front turn signal wire is light green the left rear signal wire is dark green/red. So other than checking the waterproofing of the fixture and checking that those wires are not intermittantly grounding (which would blow a fuse) and the possibility of a faulty socket in the fixture, I can't give you anyother advice. Let me know if you want instruction on removing the under panel to get to the junction block.
Please let me know how this is resolved.
