Chrysler Repair: I bought a Head Gasket Set..., head gasket, head bolts

Question
I bought a Head Gasket Set for a Caravan 4Cly,part number HSB9296PT-1 and in the gasket set is a (set and seal)-P/N 248L,which is a small towellet and a small tube of sealant.Could you Please let me know what this is for? Also in putting the engine back together,do I use thread-lock or anti-seize and all the bolts and studs and nuts?
                              Thank You;

Answer
Hi Vick,
As this is part of a head gasket set you have referenced, I have reviewed the process for head removal and installation as shown in the '95 shop manual for 2.4L engine. I assume there is a new gasket for the cover of the cylinder head. The only place in the assembly procedure where a sealant (implies 'set and seal'?) is associated and that is with that specific cover. Specifically it states after inspecting the spark plug well seal gaskets (replacing as necessary) and applying the gasket to the cover:
"Apply Mopar Silcone Rubber Adhesive Sealant at the camshaft cap corners and at the top edge of the 1/2 round seal." Then you install the cover to the head, torqueing in a specified sequence and in three steps. (Let me know if that is not explained in the manual your are working with).
You might be able to verify with the dealer that this sealant is also known as 'set and seal'. Also you could examine the old gasket for any remnants of the set and seal compound so as ascertain where it was applied originally when the engine was manufactured.
On anti-seize or thread lock compounds I don't see any reference to the use of those. Oil is the only lubricant mentioned for application to the threads of the head bolts (not so much as to drip down in the bolt holes, however, where it might interfere with proper torqueing).
That is my best information.
