Chrysler Repair: Trans wont shift and speedo wont work, speedometer, cirrus

Question
I started my 99 cirrus and started driving, I noticed the check engine light was on, the transmission won't shift and the speedometer isn't working.  Is this the output sensor?

Answer
Hi Ronald,
That is a good possibility, or its wiring to the transcontrol module. You could spend maybe $50 to get the trans controller readout for fault codes* to verify that diagnosis, or spend the money on the sensor itself. But clearly both the speedo and the shifting require the signal from that sensor.

*P0500 or P0720 are two that would point to the output sensor.
