Chrysler Repair: Tachometer/Odometer - Driver Side Power Window/Power Door Lock, power door locks, digital odometer

Question
Hi,
I got a 1997 Chrysler Sebring Convt. In the morning everything seemed fine - but later in the day, the tachometer as well as the digital odometer Stopped fuctioning. The driver side power windows and power door locks also do not work. However the passeneger side door locks work and passenger side window can be controlled from the driver side. The horn also does not work. I checked the fuses all seemed fine. Any Suggestion?

Thanks
VJ

Answer
Hi VJ,
I would take a close look at the fuses # 2, 8, 10, under the dash and also consider testing them with an ohmmeter to verify that the wires don't have subtle cracks that can open up when conducting electricity. I don't see a common mode of failure unless there is the possibility that rain or wash water is leaking in on the etacs unit near the fuse box under the dash and getting on the multipin plugs, which is common on convertibles. You could get a spray can of contact cleaner from an electronics supply store and check those multipin plugs for signs of water, dirt or corrosion around the pins/sockets. Spray cleaner will evaporate the water.
