Chrysler Repair: About Power Window, chrysler new yorker, regional warehouses

Question
Hi

Chrysler New Yorker Fifth Avenue 1992
Right-hand side Power Window "CAPUT" (not working)
I opened the panel and found steel cable entangled onthe motor spindle. The motor is perfect. Steel frame and other items are fine.
Will it be normal if I change the cable? The cable has bothends with "lead" balls to act as topper inthe wedged location. Also the plastic winding spindle looks fine.

Chrysler in Toronto want toreplace the motr and the whole Regulator Assemblyand the quotation is around CA$1000.00 for replacing.
Your help is solicited, thanks Sir,

Answer
Hi Nat,
Fortunately I have the '92 shop manual which shows the steps to removing the motor/cable assembly and replacing the cables and an accompanying spring. The main issue will be can you get the cables separately from the parts dept at Chrysler? The parts people do have a hemisphere-wide ability to search for parts located at dealerships everywhere if they don't have any at regional warehouses. I'd be glad to xerox copy and mail you the pages from the manual that describe the procedure so you can do it yourself. If you can't get new cables then you should be able to find a wreck from which you could remove them, and at the same time get some training in the removal procedure before you try it on your car.
So drop me a postal mailing address. It should be a modest cost, so no charge to you.
