Chrysler Repair: LeBaron 92 - timing belt, chrysler cars, maintenance cycles

Question
Hello,
I (newly) own a 1992 LeBaron V6 Convertible, US version, 27000miles, and I'm looking for information whether or not I should change the timing belt (or some more parts).
Just for a chance: Is there any place on internet (or book at Amazon) where I could find information about maintenance cycles?
Thanks, Zdenek

Answer
Hi Zdenek,
The best way to consider the belt condition is to inspect it for cracks, separations, etc. On the V6 you will find at the top front of each bank of cylinder a round plastic cover that is held in place by 3 bolts. Remove the covers and you will see the belt going around the camshaft pulleys. If you crank the engine briefly without starting it you can inspect the entire belt for sign of wear.
The belts normally are to be inspected at around 75,000 miles. I have 97,000 on my 2.5L 4 cyl from '89, with still the original belt.
I would suggest that you might want to acquire an owner's manual for the car which I believe is still available from Chrysler at Dyment Publication services, P.O. Box 360450, Strongsville, OH 44136 for $10.95.
There is also a 3 volume shop manual set that while possibly available would be pretty costly to get from the same source. These manuals come up for sale on eBay quite regularly. It would be the set for 1992 front wheel drive (FWD) Chrysler cars that you  are looking for.
What country are you located in? If you find a set for sale and the vendor won't ship abroad let me know and I can bid for you and forward them to you if the price is right.
