Chrysler Repair: Wont start, chrysler sebring convertible, chrysler sebring

Question
I have a 96 chrysler sebring convertible with the 2.5. I came home, the car was running great. I parked it in the garage for a couple hours, when I went out to go somewhere it wouldn't start. The flashing code indicates that I'm not getting ignition reference signal, like I couldn't tell that. I am not getting spark to the plugs. First thing I checked was the timing belt and it looks almost new and no missing teeth. I can hear the fuel pump run when I turn on the key. Do you have any ideas?

Answer
Hi Daniel,
I assume that you got a code 11 by reading out the engine controller, correct? My thought is that you have a dilemma of ascertaining whether the trouble is with the crank or the cam sensor or its wiring. I believe that a readout with a diagnostic readout box will tell you which sensor circuit is causing the problem. The failure in either case could have to do with:
8 volt supply
sensor ground
open or shorted signal circuit
excess clearance between sensor and surface
failed sensor
failed PCM

Most likely it is a failed sensor, but check the wiring and mechanical tightness of the bolts for both of the sensors. If you have a volt-ohmmeter I can give you some tests to perform on the wiring but if it is at all practical to get a diagnostic test tool to readout the situation I believe the solution would be accomplished with less cost or effort. This may mean having it towed to a Chrysler dealer, unfortunately.
So let me know how this works out or how I can be of further help.
