I have a 1996 lxi sebring, and I am having rough idle problems. I have already replace iac motor, and also changed the front three plugs and wires(trying to get to back still). I checked my codes with the odbII and it told me the system was to rich in bank 1. Well when I go to the auto store they tell me it could be a number of things. I just want to see if you might know the exact problem since there are a lot of complaints with this issue.

I have the Chrysler powertrain manual for '98 which should apply. Do you have access to the OBDII, as it may be needed?

it is the 2.5 v6. one code is p0172 system too rich (bank 1).
the other is P1927 injector high sides shorted together.

Thanks for the info. I have a problem because the manual doesn't have a P1927 or a 'injector high sides shorted together', rather some other numbers and descriptions that are similar but more specific. So if you could rechect that and tell me it is still a P1927, or something else. The 0172 requires that other trouble codes for injector problems be corrected first before working on that one.
It of course sounds like the wiring for the O2 sensors has been damaged ("shorted together") and you could look over the sensor wiring near the sensors until we resolve the confusion.

sorry it is P1297 I think I have it narrowed down too a map sensor, egr valve, oxygen sensor. I think that something else could probably be causing it to run rich and that is why I am getting the P0127

Hi Matt,
The egr could cause a rough idle if it were ajar, but the code really is specific to the MAP. I would check the wires near the plug and plug to the MAP itself for clean terminals and firm connection and check that the Sensor it self is tightly connected at the intake manifold. If you want to check the wiring, the black/light blue goes to pin 43, the violet white goes to pin 61 and the dark green red goes to pin 36, all of the powertrain controller plug. If that all checks out then replacing the sensor makes 'sense' to me. The MAP being at fault is one of the possible reasons for the 0172 so that is corroborative.
