Chrysler Repair: Fuel Economy, size tank, dodge shadow

Question
Hello:  I own a 1994 Dodge Shadow ES.  I think I am having fuel problem.

I filled up my tank.  I dont know exactly what size tank that this car has.  After driving maybe 140 - 155 miles, I am back on 1/2 tank.  Is that poor economy?  I am comparing this gas mileage to the mileage in my 1996 Camaro, which is a 3.4
V-6.  Maybe because the Camaro has a bigger tank and it takes longer to reach 1/2 tank, I am not sure.  I just think that this is too much fuel being used in this car.  I haven't tuned it up yet.  (I bought this car from an auction

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Answer
Hi Kevin,
Gas gauges are not so accurate as to be a basis for estimating gas consumption. I would suggest that you start with a full tank, note the odometer reading, then when the tank is fairly low refill it and determine how much you have used, then see how many miles you have gone, then divide the miles traveled by the gallons of gas the get the mpg. Let me know what you get, which engine you have and what sort of driving you were doing during the test.
