Auto body repair & detailing: Touch up paint, touch up paint, wet sanding

Question
92 Honda Accord 4door sedan, Rose Beige paint

Ding on hood as if hit by large rock, about 1.5 inches across. Got it pretty much flattened out and rust removed, about 3 inches across after wet sanding.

Got touchup paint at dealer, goes on thick and lumpy and is noticeably darker than existing paint (I guess due to age of finish?)

Wet sanded paint the best I can, still very uneven and noticeably darker. Haven't waxed over it yet.

How can I do a better job on this? It seems more expensive than the car is worth to repaint the hood or the entire car.

As an aside, can this car be used as the basis for a kit car, or is it unibody or otherwise unsuitable?

Thanks.

Answer
Macco will paint your whole car for 249. So I know it doesn't cost five hundred dollars. I own my own buisness and have never charged 500 dollars to refinish a hood. For that price I would replace and refinish a complete hood panel. So therefor your estimates are way to high. seems like you have some crooks in your area.
