Chrysler Repair: NO SPARK, spark plug wire, auto mechanics

Question
Hi.         >>>>>>>>NO SPARK<<<<<<<<

I have a 96' sebring convertible 2.5 6cyl
the other day my accesory belt broke I took it of and started the car to the parts shop. it did ok, when i tried to start it again it didn't have a spark. i checked and the distributor and is good, the coil, that it is inside it, whit in range ( i have some auto mechanics back ground) checked the PCM and it is not providing the 5 volts, and where it has to have ground it has the power (6pins plug) the other 2way plug it is fine, i changed the PCM and it is stil doing the same,

i checked the electric diagram on the ALL DATA pc program and there is no fuse between the distribuitor and the PCM, I changed the auto shut off relay and it is not starting any way.

please any info will help a lot. this is some big bug, Im desperate.

Im lost, my friend ASE certified 20 years exp told me it is the most weird thing he could not fixt it,

Answer
Hi Leon,
Two approaches are to see if there are a.)fault codes, and b.) do several electrical tests:
But first, did you try for spark by plugging a spark plug wire (with a  grounded spark plug on the other end) into the spark coil tower (after removing the distributor cap to give you access to the tower)? If not try that spark test to test the coil.
a.)The most useful thing to do would be to try to get the fault codes that are likely stored in the engine controller memory to readout. Try using the ignition key: turn it "on-off-on-off-on" and leave it "on" (doing this quickly, no longer than 5 seconds). Then watch the 'check engine' light to begin flashing, then pause, flashing, pause, etc. Count the number of flashes before each pause and keep track of the numbers. Repeat the readout and verify the counts are correct. Then group them in pairs in the order that they came out, thus forming two digit numbers. You may notice that the pause is shorter between the digits of a given number, and longer between the numbers themselves. Then send me a 'follow-up' question telling me the results of your readout. By the way, 55 will be the last number (two groups of 5 flashes each) and that is the code for "end of readout".
I have the troubleshooting manual for the 2.5L engine and we can look up the possibilities of what is wrong based upon what fault codes you show.
There is also an essay on fault codes at the site:
http://www.allpar.com/fix/codes.html
which gives the meaning of the code numbers. But then you need to get specific info for what exactly might be the diagnostic tests or parts to replace to complete the repair.
b.)check for continuity between pin 11 of the pcm and pin 1 of the 6-way (black gray) which is the ignition coil driver wire
check for contiunity between 6-way pin 2 (black) and ground
check for continuity between PCM pin 6 and pin 2 of the 6-way connector (black/red) the ASD relay output wire
check the resistor in the distributor cap: between the center button and the ignition coil terminal; it should be arbout 5,000 ohms.
If all those tests check out AND we get no related fault codes, the manual suggests replacing the distributor.
