Chrysler Repair: wiring harness, grand voyager, pin plugs

Question
Hello.  I have a 1996 grand Voyager SE.  I am attempting to install a wiring harness to operate trailer lights.  The unit I was recommended is 18334 draw tite T one trailer wiring.  Here is a link with a picture of the unit.

There were no instructions included with this harness.
do you know where the main wiring harness is located that I am supposed to tap into.
Has anyone else wired their van for towing?
Any help on this one would be greatly appreciated.

William

Answer
If they are at the midline they might even be exteriorized, say behind/under the bumper, for example. You may be able to find out by going to a dealer and ask the parts counterperson to look in his parts manual, or the shop manager could look in the repair manual and let you know.

Hi William,
The most recent van wiring I have is from '91, but it does show that the wiring that goes to both the left tail/stop/turn and the right tail/stop/turn light fixtures are equipped with extra wires that tap into the running light and the bright light filaments and that these are "capped for trailer towing". It doesn't show where the capped wire ends are located but I imagine that if you go to the fixture backsides and examing the incoming wires you will either find the unused plug-ins or the duplicated wires which you can then follow to where they end at plugs, maybe somewhere near the midline of the van behind a panel for example. The wire codes are brown for the running lights and yellow for the left turn, dark green for the right turn filaments in the '91 model. So if by '96 the manufacturer had actually provided multi pin plugs and this harness is sold specifically for your model and year of van then you ought to find the mating plugs near the individual light fixtures on each side, or at the mid-line. Sorry I don't have experience with the '96 van to tell you exactly where to look, but that is what I would look for.
