Chrysler Repair: Clutch not disengaging, clutch assemblies, mechanical linkages

Question
Hi, i own a 95 dodge ram and it has 263000km.  Ever since i've acquired this vehicle (258 000km), i have trouble shifting into gears from a stop.  This does not happen while the vehicle is in motion, nor does it grind or make strange noises.  So, in order to shift into a gear, i must shift into first right before i stop.  If i leave it in neutral and stop, and force it into gear(any gear), it grinds. Is something binding around the clutch assembly causing the input shaft to turn?

-master/slave cylinders arent leaking
-clutch does not slip
-trans fluid has been changed
-no strange noises
-shift tower assembly looks fine

Answer
Hi Danny
I have to admit some  ignorance on hydraulic clutch assemblies as all my cars have had mechanical linkages. But, you might want to try to bleed the slave cylinder to get any air that might be preventing the clutch from being completely disengaged. The other possibility is that the bearing that is mounted in the center hole of the crankshaft where the nose of the trans is inserted is wearing out and this causes the input shaft to be turned even though the clutch is disconnected. (I am not sure the Chrysler products are set up with such a bearing, the VW's of "old" were. If so, that would require a removal of the trans to replace that, which I hope is not the cause. Usually it would make noise if it were dragging. But check at the dealer parts counter to verify the design, first). The symptom that you described could be due to either cause, but the slave cylinder is the first thing to check.
