Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1931 chevy vin number location, serial number plate, vin number

I have a 1931 chevy 2-door sedan. I can't find the vin number. Do you have any suggestion on where to find it.

Car Serial Number Plate
(Usually located on the main wood sill facing the passenger side front door.  Located a few inches forward of the front seat under the floor mat.  Mounted to the sill plate with little tacks.)
Some states will issue a title using the engine number on old cars. The engine number is stamped on a pad near the distributor.
