Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1930 ModelA Air filter, good luck jack, small birds

Question
Where do you put air filter in a modelA?

Answer
They sell a filter that keeps out rocks and small birds. It's called a maze air cleaner. It is really a fire arrestor. It directs the flames downward during a backfire.  Mounted on the carb inlet. Some guys add some filter material to it to filter the air, but I think it is dangerous. Our carbs are always dripping gas, and you don't need a gas soaked rag down there waiting for a backfire. Bottom line, don't use a filter unless you can mount it up high so it won't get wet with gas. That means a lot of ugly plumbing.  Just change your oil every 500 miles.
Good luck. Jack
