Classic/Antique Car Repair: Rolls Royces, rolls royces, silver cloud

Question
i have an early 70's silver cloud v8 i had the motor rebuild, after i reinstall the motor it will run as long as the carb boles are full, it will not suck up fuel on its own. i don't much about these carbs or if there is fuel pump somewhere. any suggestion would be great thanks

Answer
The carbs are hydraulic and you should fill the carb ONLY with oil.
Yes, unscrew the caps from the carbs and pull up ONLY 1/2 way out. Then
pour caps of motor oil in each until they are full. You should do this with
each oil change. If this doesn't help, you may need to rebuild the carbs.

The fuel pump is located under the left rear near the wheel. If it has
the original fuel pump (pierburg) is will begin to hum when it starts to go bad.
