Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1966 Ford Mustang floor pan colour, ford mustnag, ford mustang

Question
Hi Scott,

Hoping you can help me.  I am currently restoring a 1966 Ford Mustnag Fastback and in doing so will be replacing the entire floor pan.  I am really wanting to keep the car as close to original as possible and to that end, I want to paint the floor pan the original colour.  Do you know what colour the floor pan should be and ideally the paint code I need to provide the paint shop with?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Answer
Hello Pete,
I have done many of these, but most people have always wanted plain ole black on their floor. It seems as though most I have worked on are black from the factory and they just let your outside color blow in over it. After all inside the car its covered and the bottom of the vehicle we have always done the color of the outside panels. Myself I always liked a black floor under the vehicle. This may not be the answer you are looking for, its just the way the shops I have worked at do it. You can repost this if you want and see if anyone else more info on this. I wish I could have had more info for you.
