Classic/Antique Car Repair: rocker arms and lifters, hydraulic lifters, rocker arms

Question
Hello
I have a 1966 Mustang with a 289 in it. I have had it modified in that I put a larger or closer to the GT cam in when it was rebuilt years ago. It has been sitting and not used very much in last 15 yrs. my question is two part. #1 I had a rocker stud come out of the head which I have attempted to repress back into position. Very little milage and or time on eng. since major overhaul. Should I have to adjust all rockers. 2nd How do I know if the lifters are hydraulic or solid??  Thanks
Scott

Answer
If the engine has been sitting and when starting after a long down time you pulled a rocker stud loose I would suspect a stuck or bent valve. There is no way to tell if the engine has solid or hydraulic lifters on an engine that has not seen oil pressure in a while other than looking at the lifter. In this situation I would have the intake manifold off and build from the bottom up.
