Classic/Antique Car Repair: gutter trim, roof gutter, tight fit

Hello can you help me please I have a 1968 impala fastback and dont know how to get the chrome off from around the roof gutter i think thats what to call it any help would appreciated thanks

This is a tough one, Alan. It needs to be pried off, starting at the bottom and levering it over the top. It's a very tight fit, and there's going to be some adhesive in there too, not to hold it in place, but to keep it from rattling and rusting, as there's a pinch-weld running around the window openings at that edge.

I have never seen anyone do this without kinking the stainless trim...most restorers leave it in place and tape it heavily to work around it.
