Classic/Antique Car Repair: MGB will not start 1974, electronic ignition control, volt system

Question
Car was jumped off and somthing blew, smelled smoke under hood. Please help!

Answer
I assume it is a 12 volt system and you jumped it with a 12 v. source.  If you had the polarity backwards, you could have done a lot of damage.  You will have to try to find out what was smoking, then check that part out.  If you are lucky, you blew a fuseable link located in one of the battery cables.  Check those.  Yhey are a big lump in the cable and it should say fuse on it.
You may have blown the electronic ignition control box.  That will cost you, but I think you better take it to someone who can figure out what blew.  I don't think you could have hurt the coil.  Look  in the distributor and smell it to see if something in there blew.
Sorry I can't help you.
Good luck with it.
