RV Repair: replacing carpet in a rv, replacing carpet, screw gun

Question
I have a 99 Montana 34 foot 5th wheel with 2 slides I need to replace the carpet. How do I get the carpet under the slide, do I need to remove the slide and how do I do this, it is hydraulic.

Thanks
John Martin

Answer
Hi John. Yes, the slide will have to be removed. Montanas are a hard one to do because the screws holding the interior fascia are hard to find. With the slide in you have to feel along the back side for the little dab of silicone used to cover the hole left by the screw. Then you have to run the screw gun around that hole till it finds the screw head. Once you have remove the fascia. You will have to support the front edge of the slide with 2x4s propped under the floor of the slide. RnR the carpet. Good Luck
