do you know the name of the black box that mounts on the fender wall of my 1954 chrysler new yorker the part that mounts on the fender wall beside the battery the hot battery cable mounts to a big voult that sticks out of the black box. Thanks

I think you are describing the starter relay, but since that is also the subject of your note, I'm wondering if you are looking at something else under there.  

However, I cannot think of anything else that fits your description, if I understand you correctly, and assuming that by "voult" you mean a hefty terminal post.
