Classic/Antique Car Repair: !966 Mustang engine stalling, good luck jack, mustang 289

Question
I just bought my first 66 Mustang 289 C code, automatic. Drove it home, cruised around town, everything Ok. Then it started stalling out, finally it would turn over but not restart. Let it set overnight and it started right up, I;m afraid it's gonna start stalling again and levae me high and dry somewhere. Any professional guess on the problem??

Answer
I'm a Model A guy, and our cars never stall!!!!!  What a joke!
It must be heat related.  I would look for vapor lock.  Make it do it again and pour some water over the carb and fuel lines.  If it restarts after that, you have found the prob.  Sometimes the electronic ignition module acts up when it gets hot.
On the vapor lock thing, sometimes you have to stop for a short time and then it will vapor lock.  As long as you keep running, it may be OK.  The heat can build up and cause the trouble while you are getting gas.  Then you only get a few feet away from the pump.  I doubt that you are having that prob.  Look for a fuel line that is too hot.  Cool it off and see if that helps.  Carry a bottle or two of water with you.
Beyond that, I don't think I have any other ideas.  Find yourself a ford car club and join it if you have to.  They will have all the answers and be glad to help you get it running real good!!!!
Good luck.
