I read the response about a 400 not going in gear that you wrote.  you said fill the converter, etc.  i have  rebuilt 400 and it ran ok for 500 miles now it won't move in any gear. i have a hi pitched wine (sp?) in all gears.  can you help? the car will creep when cold, stops when hot

My guess is that the front pump has failed, or else the filter is plugged with crud so that the front pump isn't getting enough oil to it.  I think it is going to have to come out and come apart again to track this down, but you can first drop the pan and check the filter, and see what debris is laying in the bottom of the pan. It sounds serious!
