Classic/Antique Car Repair: engine, styleline, vin number

Question
QUESTION: I have a 1950 chevy styleline deulxe and the engine has a # right side in back of the distributor. # is  0443634T255x can you give me any info. year/size eng./hp.any INFO will help

ANSWER: This number is NOT the VIN/Serial number or the Style number. The VIN number for a 1950 Chevy is 9 digit number with a letter in the 2nd and 3rd position that depict year and model. If there is no tag on the door or in the driver-side dash, check the engine (if original). Otherwise check under the hood on the passenger side firewall. Once you have this number, I can help you decipher it.

Answer
This appears to be a non-standard serial/VIN number. The sequence for 1950 Chevys was a bit shorter and a different sequence. Most likely this car has a different engine than the original 1950 Styleline Deluxe. Many 1950 Chevys have different engines, trans, doors, interiors, etc.
