Classic/Antique Car Repair: 65 imperial ignition switch, panel switches, imperial club

Question
Hello. I'm having a hard time installing the ignition switch on a 65 imperial. Which panels have to be removed to gain access to the switch and how is this done? Do I have to remove dash cluster or can this be done from underneath/behind? Helpful hints are much appreciated, thanks.

Answer
This question just came up on the Imperial club mailing list also - are you the same person?

Here is the answer given there:

Refer to pages 8-58 and 8-59 in the 1965 FSM, part number 81-070-5150.
It provides step by step instructions for removing and installing the Imperial instrument panel switches. Ignition switch removal is within the section titled "Right Group"

If you don't have the FSM for your car, you can download the appropriate pages from the IML web site.

Since I haven't done this operation on a 65, I'd have to check the same info in my manual too, and I don't happen to have one for a 65, so I'd be on the IML site also looking it up.   You can do this yourself and eliminate the middle man (me!)
