Classic/Antique Car Repair: 86 trans am headlight actuator, headlight assembly, electrical components

Question
i recently bought an 86 trans am and the drivers side head light had to be cranked up by hand i removed the headlight assembly and repaired crack in the actuator motor.the motor can only be put together 1 way there are no timing marks and i didn't touch any of the electrical components but the headlight wants to close when it should open and vice versa. advice please

Answer
I really haven't worked on these much, but I understand they are just a reverse position activation. In other words, it does not know if it is open or closed, just reverses previous action. Try reversing (manually, with hand) its position, like you did when you cranked it up originally and see if that does the trick.
