Suzuki: Gears stick, cold mornings, gear lever

Question
In these very cold mornings my gear lever will not go into gear
I cannot get it in to gear.

Answer
Does it go into gear fairly easily when the engine is not running?
If so, suspect a possible pilot bearing, a misadjusted clutch or something causing the clutch to fail to release, like perhaps a little oil on the disc.

It's not at all abnormal for shifting to be stiff and slow while the trans is cold, and the lubricant is thicker than cold molasses.  It can take three or four times longer to accomplish a shift at 0 degrees F as opposed to when the trans is at operating temp of approximately 150 degrees F.
