Classic/Antique Car Repair: 82 Chev Trk -doorlatch, coat hanger, wrecking yard

Question
Tazz- The outside handle fell a part and into the shell of my 82 Chev Trk(K10). The door was open at the time so I removed the inside panel. The latch has been sprayed with WD40 and soaking. Also, the rod from inside handle and the rod that would attach to the outside handle seem to move freely where attached to the latch. Exception to outside rod: I closed the door (dont ask me why I did this)with the door lock engaged (manual lock). Now, I can not budge the lock and am trying to figure out if a clip is missing, or how to pop the lock...then the latch.
So, I am searching for two solutions:
*Get the door unlocked and open.
*How to determine if I should replace the latch, repair it, and where to find a part??

I have worked in electronic repair and can usually get projects like these lined out. So, I will be able to read schematics or follow references you suggest.Any advise would be appreciated so much.
Thank you

Answer
First of all, enter the truck from the other side. Does that door work with a key?   If not, that modekl truck is VERY easy to enter with a coat hanger. If you don't know how to do this, I can email you instructions privately. If you have a back sliding window, it is even easier.

If you have access inside and out, just remove the lock itself (not trying to save the lock assembly) and the latch will open. Or disconnect the linkage and physically pull the jam rod with your hands or pliers, and push the door open. 3. use a this strip of metal, like a slim jim, to push horizontally from theinsdie of truck at the jam bar much like a credit card in a regular house door.

Some of these concepts are hard to explain without drawings.

Second, your best source for parts is going to be a wrecking yard. Inspect the matching parts for wear and condition, but they should be fine for the life of your truck.
