Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1969 Camaro Starting problem, 69 camaro, 1969 camaro

Question
Just bought a 69 Camaro 350. New battery, absolutely nothing on ignition? Lights won't come on, no clicking, nothing? Could it be the cables? Or coil? Or something else? Thank You for your help...PS. It has started before, no issues a day ago, again..replaced battery, posts are clean.

Answer
Tim, it sounds like a bad connection somewhere or a dead new battery. I hope that you have a voltmeter so that you can check voltage down the line. Start by connecting the neg lead of the voltmeter to the neg terminal of the battery. Now take the pos lead of the voltmeter with the meter set at on voltage setting higher than 12 volts DC. Start with the pos terminal of the battery and look for 12.50 volts or better. If the voltage is lower then the battery is low. If the voltage is near zero then the cable is not making a connection. Continue down the line with the voltmeter. A test light will not give you the information that you need here as it will not tell you the difference between 11 volts and 12. Good luck.
