Classic/Antique Car Repair: 235 chev, rebuilt shortblock, volume sales

Question
I have a 1951 JP truck. The engine is not stock and comes from  a 1957 station wagon (block # 383-6848). I am looking to rebuild and have two questions! Should I switch to 12v? The truck has and will always be a work truck, can I just go with the cheapest rebuild kit I can find.
Thanks, Orion

Answer
I thought I answered this yesterday, guess computer didn't send it properly.

yes and yes

I would switch to 12v because every repair, jump, and anyone you help is going to have 12v. Parts are actaully cheaper once you get converted

As for as rebuild kit, USUALLY they all pretty much are the same and the price difference comes from volume sales.

Look into already rebuilt engines in your area. At one time, we could buy a rebuilt shortblock $32 cheaper than we could be the parts to do it ourselves.
