Classic/Antique Car Repair: 235 engine repair manual, auto literature, fleetmaster

Question
i have a 235  6cyl engine in a 1947 fleetmaster and it has no oil filter i need a manual and is hard to even match the right plugs at the parts store. also need info for leaking oil seal on the front drive line seal .

Answer
Your car has a later engine, so you will need a factory shop manual for a 1951 with automatic transmission to get the right info on it.

If you contact one of the auto literature dealers, they can probably sell you one.  I use Ed Faxon at www.faxonautolit.com, but there are others.  You can also watch EBay  for manuals - they come up all the time on there.

Those cars didn't come with oil filters - there is no provision on the block for a full flow filter.  You can hang on a cartridge type on the side of the engine on a bracket, but they didn't do much good, as only a small percentage of the oil went through them.  You can look for an oil filter kit for it on eBay, or find a parts car that has one and swap it to yours.
