Classic/Antique Car Repair: door sticking, door latch, broken spring

Question
QUESTION: Roger,
I just replaced the driver's door handle mechanism on my 69 GTO (broken
spring).  Now the door sticks.  It's like the mechanism isn't pulling the rod
enough to trigger the latch.  It worked fine with the old one but now it sticks.  If
I hold the handle all the way up and push the door lock 1/2 way down, it opens.
If the rod would pull just another mm it would work.  Can this be adjusted?

ANSWER: Craig;
Hi  - well you put some white lube on the parts and that might just help- or you will have to adj. it, as it is adjustable. but just a little at a time.  ok

QUESTION: I did the white lube already with no help.  How do you adjust it?

Answer
CRAIG;
Hea; well you will have to loosen the door latch, loosen the 3 bolts/screws on the plate just a little bit , so it will not slide down,if you can loosen them just a bit than close the door a few times , you might just luck out and it will set it self,than all you will have to do is tighten it up. if not you will have to loosen just the panel side and adj. it till you get it right, you might need a friend to help you.  ok
