Classic/Antique Car Repair: 55 chevy torque specs, chevy torque specs, valve lifters

Could you please give me torque specs & tightening sequence
& valve lash procedure & specs for a 55 chevy 3100 p/u 235 cid. Thanks.

Bob' I think that you might have hydrolic valve lifters in that motor all you have to do is remove the valve covers  and  turn one rocker back(loosen) one at a time and when you do this it should start to stutter or stall, this in normal,   etc, than you will now tighten (1 1/2)it at apx/ 1 1/2 turn tighten-  a turn and when doing this it might idel up a bit or sound differnt, do this to each one than when finished  you might have to  re adj-  adj, your idle. hi or low, than do/set the timing if needed, than your valves should now be all done. this is how to set hydrolick lifters,you can also se yout timing and  adj . the carb. if needed and a new gas filter also. and a new air cleaner too
and I would change the oil and oil filter us 10 w 40 wt. oil and a can of S.T.P. it should be a lot better after this
