Classic/Antique Car Repair: e-type auto electrics, flasher system, ign

Question
I am helping on the rebuild of a 1969 series 2 fixed head e-type, everything is back together and working well apart from the front and rear indicators which attempted to work when operated but then fried the hazard light unit and rocker switch when ignition was switched on,i would be gratefull of any help with this problem.

Answer
Hi Jon,
Is this a US version car? If so, someone has wired it up wrong or has jumped #7 or #4 fuse. All powers to the flasher system on the series II E-Type are fused so any short anywhere in the system can not burn anything. Check the Brown w/Orange at the flasher unit for power then remove fuse #4 and power should be OFF. Check the Green wire at the Hazard Switch for power (Ign. ON) and turn Ign. OFF and you should loose power on the green wire. NO other power should be in the complete flasher system. If you need a wiring diagram of the flasher system, contact me at
