Classic/Antique Car Repair: 64 impala alternator, 64 impala, altanator

Question
Hey Roger me and my father had my 283 engine and power glide trans rebuilt out of my 64 Impala. Every thing seems to be running fine but I cant get my battery to charge through my alternator. When we were taking the engine out the old wiring harness that was in it caught fire and was no longer usable. The previous owner of the car had wires and electrical tape every where under the hood. We bought a harness from a junked out 64 and everything is working but the battery charging system. I know my car was originally equipped with a generator. Any help is greatly appreciated.

HI  the first thing to do is get a volt meter and see what the altanator is putting out. if not 13+ or more volts than there it is, also test the battery. If all ok than check all of the splices the only way to do a wire harness patch job is to solder the wires as the crimp on clips will get crudded up and cause troubles.  ok
