Classic/Antique Car Repair: Starting, stock coil, timeing

Question
Hi,  I am having a problem starting my 30 ford streetrod with a 327 motor. I recently installed an electronic ignition in the distributor. The car will only start if I hook up a battery charger to the battery and put the charger on start mode for the most available juice to the battery. It will fire up mimmediatly this way. When I try to start the car witout the carger it just cranks and cranks but won t start. The battery is new and started the car fine before I installed the electronic ignition. I have a new fuel pump and new high tech wires on the engine. I did not install a new coil as the instructions with the electronic ignition said it would would work with the stock coil. I have a new fuel filter. If I spray starting fluid into the carb. this helps the motor to start. I am wondering if I need to change the timing now that I have the electronic ignition and if so what should be the new degree setting. Also it sounds like the gas is not staying in the fuel bowl on the carb. as I have to pump and pump the gas to get the car to start if not using th charger if it starts at all. the fuel pump is mechanical. Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you and have a great day.

Hi , did you have to take out the old dist ? if yes than It is off and you will have to re-install it and pop the no#1 cyld. and see if the rotor is on the no#1  plug spot . than put it back , if not than  turn the dist. back a little when its running and check the timeing , as far as the dist. the timeing should be the same as it was.  ok the timeing might be to far adv.
