Classic/Antique Car Repair: FIRING ORDER FOR A MUSTANG, distributer cap, compression stroke

Question
HELLO THERE, I JUST HAVE A QUICK QUESTION FOR YOU TODAY, I HAVE A 1965 MUSTANG THAT I JUST PURCHASED. IT HAS A WHICH I THINK IT IS A 200 MOTER, INLINE 6 CYCLINEDER. I AM REPLACING A COUPLE OF THINGS BECAUSE I HAVE KNOW IDEA WHAT THE PREVOUS OWNER AS DONE.  WHICH BRINGS ME TO MY QUESTION FOR YOU.  I AM GOING TO REPLACE THE DISTRIBUTER CAP ON THE CAR BUT I AM AFRAID THAT I MIGHT GET CONFUSED ON THE SPARK PUG WIRES, GETTING THEM ALL MIX UP.  CAN YOU TEL ME THE FIRING ORDER SO I CAN MATCH THEM UP TO THE CAP? THANK YOU, JUSTIN FROM PORTLAND OREGON.

Answer
The firing order is 1 5 3 6 2 4.  The cylinders are numbered from front to back.

Be sure that you have the #1 cylinder on the compression stroke when you start inserting the wires.  You do this by removing #1 spark plug and then turning the engine by hand slowly, in the clockwise direction, until you feel air being propelled out of the spark plug hole. Stop when you get to the TDC mark on the timing indicator.  Now, the rotor in the distributor is pointed at the #1 plug wire location on the distributor cap.  It is very easy to get 180 degrees out if you don't take this step.
