Classic/Antique Car Repair: Tail lights and turn signals, chevy pickup, standard lighting

Question
Hello!

Thank you very much for your expertise, and hopefully you will be able to answer my questions.

I am in the process of trying to get an antique tag for my 1949 Chevy pickup.  My questions are:

1.  Do I have to have turn signals installed on the truck?  It looks as if it were never equipped with them.

2.  Do I have to have two brake lights?  Once again it looks as if it were only equipped with one.

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

May God bless you and yours!

Michael

Answer
No, you are only required to have the standard factory equipment on an antique vehicle.  I drove a 51 Chevy pickup for many years (until 1994) and I did add a second brake light and turn signals for safety, as the standard lighting is very poor, but that is a decision you must make yourself - there is no requirement.
