Classic/Antique Car Repair: 64 impala radio, rear speaker, fader

Question
My 64 Impala convertible has original am radio in working order, almost. It has a rear speaker. The "fader" located on the right hand knob which moves the sound from front to rear will not work, in fact it shorts out the radio. How do I repair or replace it?

Answer
Mark,
You may be able to locate someone that still has new-old parts. You may also be able to replace the fader portion only with a newer similar type of control. Please give me the complete model number off the radio and I will look up the info and give you an original part number to help you locate a replacement part if available.
